Hit the (pelvic) floor
Your baby is the size of a peach!
Your baby has begun to grow some hair. Not only that, he or she has just learned how to swallow. They are starting to swallow small amounts of amniotic fluids, which their stomach and kidneys process. This then goes back into the amniotic fluid as urine.
Now that you're into your second trimester, you're probably finding an increase in your energy levels. FINALLY! Not only this, you're probably finding an increase in your appetite too. Once morning sickness eases off, your appetite will go into overdrive. Make sure to keep a stash of healthy snacks on you so that when the hunger hits, you and baby get all the nutrients you need.
Now is a good time to start working on your pelvic floor, and good way of doing this is through Kegel exercises. To start you need to identify your pelvic floor muscles - imagine you are using the toilet and need to stop the urine midstream. The muscles you would use to do this are you pelvic floor muscles. To do Kegels, you need to sit comfortably and squeeze the pelvic floor muscles for around 3 seconds, then relax. Repeat this 10-15 times, and try to do this 3 times a day.
The stronger your pelvic floor muscles, the less likely you are to experience incontinence after delivery, so get squeezing ladies!
