  • Each nappy has 54% less chemicals than standard disposable nappies and are kind to all babies, especially those with eczema or sensitive skin.

  • They form a naturally breathable layer against your baby's skin; the top sheet is made with natural cotton and cornstarch fibres (bio degradable). The absorbent layer inside the nappy is made primarily from "fluff", this is very finely shredded paper, which has the consistency of cotton wool.

  • Totally chlorine free and contain only clean plastics which are used in the Velcro patch and elasticated back and side panels.

  • They are designed to last up to 12 hours and have a re-sealable fastening system and barrier leg cuffs and stretchy side and back panels for extra comfort.

    What is in a Beaming Baby Biodegradable Nappy?

    Outer layer (the layer you can see when the nappy is on your baby)

    This layer is made from breathable cotton and cornstarch. This natural mixture allows the air to circulate freely but traps the moisture in, to prevent your baby from getting damp clothing.

    Middle layer (the layer you can't see, inside the nappy)

    This is the absorbent layer. It is largely made up of "fluff", which is finely diced paper with the consistency of cotton wool. The layer also holds tiny balls of gel. 20% of the gel balls are biodegradable, GM Free cornstarch and 80% are standard gel balls (similar to the silica gel you see in a camera case). We have reduced the percentage of standard gel balls to the absolute minimum while still maintaining the effective absorbency - our nappies have the best and lowest ratio of standard gel to cornstarch gel in the world.

    Inner layer (the layer that is in contact with your baby's skin)

    This layer is made from breathable cotton and cornstarch (the same as the outer layer). However the weave of this material is even finer so is extra soft to the touch. This layer is a double layer, the first absorbs the wetness and second holds in the paper "fluff".

    Fasteners and Tabs

    The nappy has two Velcro style fasteners and a green pad across the front of the nappy for the fasteners to fix to. For your baby's comfort and for a leakage-free fit we have added elastic in the leg panels, front panel and back panel. All of these are made from polypropelene, a "clean" plastic which is recyclable (check your local council). Polypropelene is a refined plastic - it does not contain PVC or any contaminants.

    Composting Instructions

    To compost your Beaming Baby Biodegradable Nappy just peel off the two Velcro fasteners and Green Front pad and put the rest of the nappy in your compost bin. (The elasticated panels contain such small amounts of elastic that this will disintegrate in the soil in a short period of time.)
